Darin Freitag / Principal
Darin will tell you that his career in construction is deeply satisfying because he gets to motivate and inspire teams and stakeholders to deliver tangible results that everyone can be proud of.
Before transitioning to the trades, Darin spent years managing cross-functional teams in merchandising and digital media for big brands. His construction journey began as an apprentice to two sole-proprietor general contractors, both with strong artist-craftsman backgrounds. Under their mentorship, Darin developed a meticulous, disciplined approach essential to delivering high-quality projects. He later became a trained estimator, and then managed Small Projects and Service at a leading Bay Area custom home builder, before partnering with Eric Friedman to co-found Arrow Builders.
Today, Darin thrives within the building community, serving as a resource to friends, colleagues, and homeowners helping demystify and reduce the stress often associated with construction. When he’s not on a jobsite, you can find him enjoying the outdoors fly-fishing, backpacking, camping, skiing, or playing soccer. He lives in Marin with his wife, Lisa and son, Oscar.
Darin holds a BS in Sociology from Cal (Go Bears!) and an MBA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (formerly the Monterey Institute of International Studies). He serves on the board of Wildcare in Marin County. He currently holds a Class B General Contractors license.
Eric Friedman / Principal
Eric Friedman draws upon a lifetime of experience in custom home building. Growing up as the son of a general contractor in San Francisco, Eric has always felt a special connection to the character and history of the city and from the onset, a love and appreciation for quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
Prior to co-founding Arrow Builders with his partner Darin Freitag, Eric worked as a carpenter and grip on numerous Disney Films before transitioning to a premier Bay Area construction company where he held just about every position over a twenty-year period.
Today, Eric derives profound satisfaction working with a range of incredibly talented and gifted architects, designers, makers, and builders. He has instinctively spent the better part of a lifetime forging these mutually beneficial relationships, believing that a thoughtful, beautiful home, and the process by which it is created, starts with this relatively small community of intensely collaborative, like-minded professionals.
When not working on client projects, Eric may be found puttering around the house, gazing into the pantry, cooking, eating, drinking, and rolling around with the dog. He also spends time episodically remodeling the house and binge-watching TV with his wife, Amy. Darin has been teaching Eric to fly-fish over the last 15 years, however he is still a beginner.
Eric has served on the Board of Directors of Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, and Board of Trustees at The Presidio Hill School. He currently holds a Class B Contractors license.
